Monroe Knodel, who died on February 28, 2019, was born on March 17, 1936 to David and Christina (Hess) Knodel.
He grew up on the farm and graduated from Kief High School in 1954. Monroe served in the United States Army from October 1957-1959 and again from October 1961-1962.
Monroe married Annetta Rau on October 22, 1957. They lived in Velva and Minot, North Dakota and the last 19 years in Bullhead City, Arizona, where they retired.
Monroe spent most of his life working at the Minot Air Force Base. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, 3 sons Kerry of Fountain Hills, Arizona, Darrell of Suison, California, and James (Vanessa) of Broomfield, Colorado. Brother Elmer, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Monroe was preceded in death by son Curtiss, daughters Charlene and Denise, his parents, brother Dennis, and sister Gloria Schnieder.
A memorial service was held March 9, 2019.
